The day of October 11 can claim to be considered the birthday of the Russian army. 450 years ago, a permanent Russian army began, based on the Streltsy. On this day, by decree of Ivan IV (the Terrible), an "elected thousand" provincial nobles were visited in the Moscow district, which in the future formed the command core of the Russian army. The name list of the command corps brought to us the names of the first chiefs of the Streltsy regiments:

Grigory Pusheshnikov, Dmitry Rzhevsky, Ivan Cheremisinov, Vasily Pronchishchev, Fyodor Durasov, Yakov Bundov. They were the first of the "thousand men" to begin their official duties, when, by decree of "the same summer", six Streltsy regiments of 500 people each were created. Having good combat training, armed with firearms and edged weapons, the Streltsy represented the most trained part of the military forces of the Russian state.
