The city of Peshawar is located in Pakistan and is one of the oldest cities in the region. Its history begins in antiquity, when the path of the Silk Road passed here. The city was founded during the reign of the Ashoka Empire in the 3rd century BC, when a boulevard was built here, connecting the Indian city of Takshashila with Kabul.

Later, Peshawar became an important trade center located at the crossroads of caravan routes. The city was controlled by the Greeks, Moors, Mongols and other conquerors, and was also used as a base for many expeditions and military operations.

In the 19th century, Peshawar became one of the key cities of British India, and in 1947, after Pakistan gained independence, the city became part of the new country. Subsequently, Peshawar witnessed many political and social changes, including terrorist attacks.

Today Peshawar is one of the largest cities in Pakistan and an important economic center of the region. There are large industrial enterprises, educational institutions, as well as many cultural and historical attractions. The city has preserved many historical monuments, including ancient mosques and forts, which attract tourists from all over the world.
