August 1 is the Day of the Rear of the Armed Forces of Russia. On this day in 1941, the Main Directorate of the Rear of the Red Army was established by order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR No. 0257. The holiday was officially declared by order of the Minister of Defense of Russia in June 1998.

August 2 is Airborne Forces Day.

August 6 is Railway Troops Day.

August 9 - day of military glory of Russia. This is the day of the first naval victory in Russian history of the Russian Fleet under the command of Peter I over the Swedes at Cape Gangut (1714). As a result of the Battle of Gangut, which lasted from 6 to 7 August 1714, the Swedish squadron under the command of Vice Admiral Vatrang was defeated. The Russian Fleet was given free rein in the Gulf of Finland and the Gulf of Bothnia. Peter I equated the significance of the victory at Gangut with the significance of the Battle of Poltava.

August 22 is the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation.

August 23 is a day of military glory for Russia. It commemorates the defeat of the German fascist forces by Soviet troops in the Battle of Kursk (1943). The victory at Kursk marked a decisive turning point in the war, forcing Germany and its allies to go on the defensive in all theaters of war.
