A deep and comprehensive study of the history of state farms - large state-owned agricultural enterprises in the USSR-is one of the most important tasks of Soviet agricultural historians. The scientific and political significance of the problem is determined by the ever-increasing role of state farms in the socio-political life of the country, in the implementation of the Food Program of the USSR, as well as the wide use of the experience of the Soviet Union in state farm construction by socialist countries and peoples who have freed themselves from the colonial yoke and
Soviet researchers have created a large literature on various issues of the history of state farms. The main part of it was published before the mid-70s and analyzed in a number of historiographical works .1Over the past 10 years, a significant number of new studies on the history of state farms have appeared, containing fresh concrete historical material, important conclusions and generalizations that help to better understand the patterns and features of the formation and development of state farms at different stages of socialist construction and in different economic regions of the country. Among these publications are the first consolidated and generalizing works on the development of state farms in the USSR and the Soviet Union.-
