In our village, many people are out of work: they are engaged in seasonal harvesting of berries, mushrooms, and fishing. The military personnel of the nearby military unit are also not in the best position. Delayed wages, interruptions in the supply of food and medicine - all this has become a bitter omen of today. I know this for a fact, since my husband is an ensign. But despite all the current problems, the unit where my husband serves has sheltered twelve street children. In the short biography of each boy there is theft, drug addiction, vagrancy, and hunger. The commander of the unit, Colonel A. Valov, who knows firsthand what a hungry childhood is, did everything in his power to make the children feel like a kind, friendly family among the soldiers. In the brigade workshop, they were sewn military uniforms, given toilet accessories, put in order their appearance and determined on the full boiler allowance. But most importantly, they were forced to study... Soldiers who have students behind them are regularly interested in the students ' grades and help them prepare lessons. But in the village school, new students were treated cautiously, and some parents of schoolchildren were directly hostile. The motivation is the same: the police should deal with street children, not teachers. But I can list dozens of cases when the police, even in the prosperous times when our society was building socialism, could not do anything about hooligans. And such precinct officers as Uncle Styopa the giant were extremely rare... This means that it is necessary to fight crime not only by force, which, of course, is necessary, but to a certain extent.
